Would anyone like to host Proferssor Kodera for his overnight stay?

We expect to have 20+ in attendance and are looking for a venue to host either a potluck with seating or perhaps a restaurant location with a nearby meeting room.

Prof. Kodera will speak on: How the Academic Study of Religion Has Changed at Wellesley and Beyond.

Prof. Kodera says: "I am committed to the academic study of religion from the historical and comparative perspective, with a focus on Asia, broadly including both East Asia and South Asia. More specifically, I offer courses on Buddhism from its origin in India through its development in Tibet, China, Korea, Japan and the West. I am also interested in the inner relationship between a contemplative life and social and political responsibility, involving a variety of religious and cultural traditions.

At Wellesley, I helped develop Japanese Studies as part of East Asian Studies Program and Asian American Studies as part of American Studies."

Every woman can—and should—make a meaningful contribution to her world. There is a growing recognition that women's empowerment and leadership are crucial to their own advancement, and to worldwide societal change. Wellesley and its alumnae have supported and championed women's intellectual and social development and autonomy for over 100 years.
